Easter 2026 – Achiltibuie, Inverpolly & the Assynt-Coigach area
This year our accommodation is in the West Highlands a little north of Ullapool. The locality of our base around Achiltibuie may be little known to the Easter group, though many will be familiar with the wider area and its hills and Munros. For example the Coigach range is close-by and the Inverpolly hills about 20 minutes away by car. For Munro seekers it's about 50 minutes to Ben More Assynt. Achnahaird Bay with its dunes & Dun is very local as are miles of wild coasts and cliffs to explore.
We have booked eight cottages / lodges; the furthest being about16Km from the Village hall where we can all meet and eat together. Together these provide a potential 45 bed places.
This is the normal Easter week which includes Easter Sunday EXCEPT THE BOOKING IS FROM GOOD FRIDAY FOR 7 DAYS.
Our accommodation is now booked, starting on Friday (pm) April 3rd to Friday (am) April 10th 2026.
The range of costs at the end are based on largely filling the available places (with the higher end assuming a few are not).

Mountains
Ben More Assynt - Munro![]() Picture by Mick Knapton
Seen here from Conival. At 3,274ft Ben More Assynt is the 26th highest Munro. Most often climbed from Inchnadamph. The ascent from the col from Conival can be demanding walk over quartzite stones and the quartzite ridge to the summit slightly challenging. |
Conival - Munro![]() Picture by Mick Knapton
Seen here from the west on Ben More Assynt. Often climbed with Ben More Assynt from Inchnadamph In 2002 a few of us (including 2 Clives & Bob) found the South East ridge of Conival to be fun scramble! |
An Teallach - Munro![]() A true classic traverse An Teallac is rather further away but is worth the 80 minute drive. Scene of many Easter "adventures". A Torridian giant with two Munros: Bidean a' Ghlas Thuill at 1062 m (3484 ft), and Sgùrr Fiona at 1058 m (3473 ft). |
Cul Beag - Corbett![]() Picture by Colin Kinnea
769 m (2,523 ft) Seen from the south rising above the road to Inverpolly. |
Cul Mor - Corbett![]() Picture by Viewfinder
849 m (2,785 ft) Seen from the east at Knockan Crag near the start of a stalkers track. An alternative route from Linneraineach on the road to Inverpolly. may involve rivers. |
Stac Pollaidh![]() Picture by PB
.612 m (2,008 ft). Not a hill but a mountain! Fantastic for views though the last little "step" to the summit has its moments! |
|
Ben Mor Coigach
![]() 743 m (2,438 ft) Another fine hill with some good ridges. Most easily accessed from Culnacraig -the dead end of the road south from Achiltibue.(15 minutes). A circular traverse from half way along the road is possible. |
Meall an
Fheadain![]() A liittle hill only 204m
(670 ft) high. Good for a half-day stroll since it's about 1km
from the road at Polbain. Good views over the Summer Isles.
|
Suilven![]() 731 m (2,398 ft) Rising above
Lochinver this is a little mountain with a big character... And a big
day to climb it because it is remote from any road.

Of interest to some may be the "Geotrail" leaflet which takes you on a series of geologically focused (very!) excursions around our peninsula. I will try to get hold of a few copies beforehand. They are currently out of stock on the web site but we may be able to purchase them locally (don't bother trying to print one without some reformatting or an A2 printer - the text is unreadable). Cycle hire The nearest I can find is Ullapool Bike Hire who offer mountain and electric bikes + a drop-off or pick up service. Local routes around Achiltibuiecan be hilly! |

The cottage is
light, airy, bright and modern with large viewing windows all within a
stone's throw of a beach. It is decorated in the style of a beach house
with white floorboards throughout, reindeer and sheepskin rugs and an
open log fire in the sitting room. The view from the sea from the
picture windows is breathtaking - a panoramic sea view with the Summer
Isles framed by a range of mountains. As the former
family home of a film maker and artist, cook and environmentalist it
has a warm, homely feel with original paintings sourced from all over
the world and family furniture which makes for a charming 'homely chic'
look full of character. With a well equipped kitchen for all your self
catering needs. Guests are requested to bring eco-products to support
